Fourvière and its basilica

From Vieux Lyon, make your way up Fourvière hill, either on foot or by funicular. The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière and its esplanade offer some of the best panoramic views over Lyon.

The Presqu’île

Located between the Rhône and Saône rivers, the Presqu’île is home to some of Lyon’s best-known landmarks, including Place Bellecour, Place des Jacobins, shopping streets and a wide selection of cafés and restaurants.

Public transport

Lyon has a very convenient public transport network, including metro, tram and bus services. They provide easy access to the city’s main neighbourhoods and tourist attractions.

From Lyon Part-Dieu station

Lyon Part-Dieu station is one of the city’s main arrival points. From there, metro, tram, bus and taxi services provide quick access to your accommodation and central Lyon.

On foot and by bike

Many areas of Lyon are easy to explore on foot, particularly the Presqu’île and Vieux Lyon. Self-service bikes are also available throughout the city.

Fourvière funicular

From Vieux Lyon, the funicular provides easy access to the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière and its esplanade, without having to walk up the hill.

Lyon’s traditional bouchons

To discover Lyon’s local cuisine, the city’s traditional bouchons are a must. These welcoming restaurants serve some of the region’s most iconic specialities, including quenelles, saucisson brioché, salade lyonnaise and cervelle de canut.

La Garibaldine, located at 71 Cours Gambetta, is an excellent nearby bakery for bread, pastries, cakes and chocolates. It is one of our favourite local addresses.

For grocery shopping

An Intermarché supermarket is just a few steps from the apartment, at 126 Cours Gambetta. It is very convenient for everyday grocery shopping during your stay.

You will also find an Auchan supermarket at 87 Avenue Félix Faure, another convenient option nearby for groceries and everyday essentials.

For lunch or dinner

Les Assembleurs Garibaldi, at 144 Cours Gambetta, is a friendly restaurant close to the apartment. It serves seasonal cuisine and offers various options for lunch and dinner.

For a quick meal

Restaurant Jean Moulin, located at 124 Cours Gambetta, offers quick and casual food very close to the apartment, including kebabs, tacos, burgers and other options to eat in or take away. A convenient choice when you are looking for a quick meal during your stay.

Lyon city centre is easy to explore on foot and by public transport. When planning your journeys, remember to check TCL timetables and routes before setting off.

From the apartment, Garibaldi metro station provides quick access to Lyon’s main districts. Lyon Part-Dieu station is also within easy reach.

For the most popular attractions, especially at weekends and during busy periods, it may be worth booking some activities in advance.
